Negros Occidental Trip

The Sugar Capital of the Philippines

First stop! City of Smiles - Bacolod City

This is my first ever travel in my life together with my hubby and first ever airplane experience, that is why I'm so very excited and can't get enough of it. From Naia domestic airport we arrived at Bacolod-Silay Airport which is the main airport serving the province of Negros Orr and Occ. Upon arriving, we went directly to Check Inn Hotel to rest for a while before having our Dinner in SM City Bacolod which is just a few blocks away from the hotel. We had our dinner in Deco's to try their special Bulalo. [Silay to Bata - Van P35; Bata to Bacolod/SM - Jeep P7.50]

The next day, since our hotel is just a walk away from some of Bacolod City's finest spots, we make sure to visit all of them until noon:

 Bacolod Public Plaza

The Bacolod Public Plaza is one of the notable landmarks of Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, Philippines. It is located in the heart of the downtown area, near the city hall and across from the San Sebastian Cathedral. The plaza is the heart of the MassKara Festival celebration. The MassKara Festival is a week-long celebration held each year in Bacolod City every third weekend of October nearest October 19, the city's Charter Anniversary. The Bacolod public plaza is the final destination of MassKara street dancing competition which is the highlight of the celebration.

 San Sebastian Cathedral

Pope John Paul II Tower

The Pope John Paul II Tower was inaugurated last February 18 this year to commemorate the visit of the late Pope John Paul II in Bacolod.

Second stop! A Gem from the Rubble - The Ruins

The Ruins is Don Mariano Ledesma's Ancestral Home in Talisay City. Entrance Fee P25. The Ruins are best enjoyed during dusk. If you stay a little more, you can catch the mansion in its mystic glow bathe with lights, wait until 5:30 and you’ll see that the color of  the mansion will turn gold. This is very interesting place because of its historical story and structure.

Before heading to the next stop, we had our lunch at Chicken House and this time to try the famous Chicken Inasal.

Third stop! Mountain Resort - Mambukal

The Mambukal Mountain Resort has many beautiful sites, both made by man and by Mother Nature. Entrance Fee P30. It lies 1,200 feet or about 366 meters above sea level and serves as a gateway to the Mount Kanlaon Volcano. Leave the busy and noisy metropolis and time for us to enjoy and relax the mountain breeze.

Duplex-type airconditioned cottages - the place to stay

Warm Sulfur dipping pool

 Bats! bats! bats! Everywhere

The Mambukal adventure will not be complete without the visit to the seven majestic falls

Start of the Trek all the way up to the Seventh Falls

First and Second Falls

 Third and Sixth Falls
We didn't make it to the 4th and 5th Falls because the trail is not passable due to the mud slides and the rain

Finally! The seventh falls! After an hour of trek from the 6th falls and crossing 3 rivers, its really worth the pagod.

A place to rest after a long tiring day and an overnight stay before our flight back to Manila
